Your Visit

Our Shared Responsibilities

Frankston Tech School STEAM Teachers and staff provide active supervision in our learning spaces, manage the safety of all program activities, and support students’ engagement and wellbeing throughout their time on site.

Visiting partner school staff retain the overarching duty of care for their students. This includes responsibility for student wellbeing needs, behaviour expectations and management, attendance, and any individual support requirements.

Accompanying partner school staff are expected to participate throughout the day and to support students during transitions, collaborative activities, and any situations requiring pastoral care.

Supervision Ratios

Visiting partner schools are required to provide supervising staff in accordance with the Department of Education’s excursion supervision requirements (more info here).

For Tech School programs, this is generally a ratio of 1:20 staff to students, with a minimum of two supervising staff onsite. We look forward to seeing you onsite with our team.

Together, we ensure that all students are safe, supported, and able to engage in their learning experience at Frankston Tech School.

Risk Assessments

These risk assessments are provided to help teachers familiarise themselves with Frankston Tech School programs, facilities, and learning activities. They are designed to support your school’s own risk assessment, excursion approval, and parent/carer consent processes.

Please note that multiple risk assessments may apply to different aspects of a program, so we encourage you to review all relevant documents.

FTS Staff will meet you at the bus stop, and direct you to the venue.

Frankston Tech School is located on Chisholm Institute's Frankston Campus - directly across the road from Frankston Train Station.

Frankston Tech School is a fully accessible venue, with step-free entry throughout our spaces to ensure ease of movement for all visitors. Our facilities also include a hearing assist system to support participants with hearing needs.

To help us provide the best possible experience for every student, teacher, and guest, we ask that you let us know in advance about any specific accessibility requirements. This allows our team to prepare and ensure your visit is safe, comfortable, and inclusive.

We encourage students to bring their own lunch; however, they are also welcome to purchase food and drinks from the Chisholm Institute café, conveniently located in the building next door.

During the day, students will have a 20-minute morning tea break and a 40-minute lunch break. As with all school excursions, supervision during these times remains the responsibility of accompanying school staff, in line with your school’s policies.
